Randy Freeland Memorial Baseball Scholarship

Purpose of Scholarship

To provide financial assistance for college costs to a baseball athlete graduating from Palmyra-Macedon High School.

Number and Size of Awards

One award of $1,000; paid as $250 per semester for up to four consecutive semesters of undergraduate study.

Allowed Use of Award

Awards may be used for tuition, fees, books, and other expenses associated with higher education.

Eligibility Criteria

For a graduating baseball athlete from Palmyra-Macedon High School who:

• Has participated and excelled in the high school baseball program for a minimum of two years;
• Will be enrolled full-time at a two- or four-year college; and
• Has financial need.

Special consideration is given to students who do not receive other awards.

Application Process

The application process is coordinated by the Palmyra-Macedon High School Athletics Department, where application instructions are available if applicable.

Committee/Selection Process

The selection process is coordinated through the Palmyra-Macedon High School. A committee comprised of Palmyra Macedon’s Director of Athletics and four citizens of the greater Rochester area reviews applications, selects the recipient, and informs the Community Foundation.

Award Announcement and Payment

The Community Foundation emails a certificate to the high school for presentation to the recipient and emails an award notification with instructions for claiming the award to the recipient in the Spring. Payment is made to the school for the recipient’s account in one lump sum in the Fall and split between the Fall and Spring semesters once required documentation is received.

To release the initial scholarship payment, upload the requested and required information including your class schedule and tuition bill verifying full-time enrollment in a two- or four-year college or university to the Community Foundation’s online Scholarship Portal between July 1 and August 15.

To release the subsequent payment, upload the requested and required information including your unofficial transcript, class schedule and tuition bill to verify continued enrollment and a minimum 2.5 GPA to the Community Foundation’s online Scholarship Portal between July 1 and August 15.

Scholarships not claimed in the assigned semester will be forfeited. Email scholarships@racf.org with any questions or concerns.

Renewability

This scholarship is renewable up to three times for a total of four awards in four consecutive semesters. Please see the Award Announcement and Payment section above for more information.
