Purpose of Scholarship
To provide financial assistance to a University of Rochester student with good personal qualities and high achievement who has declared engineering as a major.Application Period

Number and Size of Awards
Up to 10 awards of $500 each; paid in one lump sum in the Fall and split between the Fall and Spring semesters.
Allowed Use of Award
Awards may be used for tuition, fees, books, and other expenses associated with higher education.
Eligibility Criteria
For University of Rochester students who:- Are majoring in engineering;
- Are in their junior or senior year in college; and
- Show personal achievement and good personal qualities.
Application Process
The application process is coordinated by an academic advisor in the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences at University of Rochester, where applications are available, if applicable.Committee/Selection Process
The selection process is coordinated through the University of Rochester School of Engineering and Applied Sciences Administrative Committee. A committee comprised of school faculty and deans reviews nominations, selects a recipient, and informs the Community Foundation.Award Announcement and Payment
The Community Foundation emails a certificate to the University of Rochester for presentation to the recipient and emails an award notification with instructions for claiming the award to the recipient in the Spring. Payment is mailed to the school for the recipient’s account in one lump sum in the Fall and split between the Fall and Spring semesters once required documentation is received. To release the scholarship payment, upload the requested and required information including your class schedule and tuition bill verifying full-time enrollment to the Community Foundation’s online Scholarship Acceptance and Renewal Form between July 1 and August 15. Scholarships not claimed by February 15 in the assigned year will be forfeited. Email scholarships@racf.org with any questions or concerns.Renewability

This scholarship was established in 1991 in memory of Donald M. Barnard, president of Barnard Consulting Engineers, PC specializing in the design and management of institutional, industrial, public, and commercial projects. Mr. Barnard was a past president of the NYS Consulting Engineers Council and of the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers.
