William and Irene Rolfe Scholarship

Purpose of Scholarship

To provide scholarship assistance to town of Rose residents who plan to attend college full time.

Number and Size of Awards

One award of $8,000; paid as $2,000 per year for up to four consecutive years of undergraduate study. Award paid in the Fall and divided equally between the Fall and Spring semesters.

Allowed Use of Award

Awards may be used for tuition, fees, books, and other expenses associated with higher education.

Eligibility Criteria

For graduating seniors from North Rose-Wolcott High School who:

  • Reside in the town of Rose for at least two years prior to graduation;
  • Demonstrate scholastic, athletic, and social achievement; and
  • Are accepted by an accredited four-year college.

Financial need is not a consideration.

Application Process

The application process is coordinated by the North Rose-Wolcott Central School District, where application instructions are available if applicable.

Committee/Selection Process

The selection process is coordinated through the North Rose-Wolcott Central School District. The school's awards committee, which is comprised of class advisors, faculty, and staff, reviews applications, selects the recipient, and informs the Community Foundation.

Award Announcement and Payment

The Community Foundation emails a certificate to the high school for presentation to the recipient and emails an award notification with instructions for claiming the award to the recipient in the Spring. Payment is made to the school for the recipient’s account in one lump sum in the Fall and split between the Fall and Spring semesters once required documentation is received.

To release the initial scholarship payment, upload the requested and required information including your class schedule and tuition bill verifying enrollment in a four-year college to the Community Foundation’s online Scholarship Acceptance and Renewal Form between July 1 and August 15.

To release subsequent scholarship payments, upload the requested and required information including your unofficial transcript, class schedule, tuition bill, and the William and Irene Rolfe Scholarship Renewal Form verifying continued enrollment in a four-year college and a minimum 3.0 GPA to the Community Foundation’s online Scholarship Acceptance and Renewal Form between July 1 and August 15.

Scholarships not claimed by February 15 in the assigned year will be forfeited. Email scholarships@racf.org with any questions or concerns.

Renewability

This scholarship is renewable up to three times for a total of four awards in four consecutive years. Please see the Award Announcement and Payment section above for more information.

This scholarship was established in 1996 as a testamentary gift from the estate of Irene M. Rolfe, a longtime resident of the Wayne County town of Rose.
