Victor and Janet Salitan BOCES 2 Scholarship (Current WEMOCO Students)

Purpose of Scholarship

To provide scholarship assistance for BOCES 2 Career and Technical Education students planning to pursue post-secondary education.

Application Period

November 1 to March 1

Number and Size of Awards

One award of $5,000 and a second award of $1,500; both paid in one lump sum in the Fall and divided equally between the Fall and Spring semesters.

Allowed Use of Award

Awards may be used for tuition, fees, books, and other expenses associated with higher education.

Eligibility Criteria

For graduating seniors of the career and technical education program at Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES. Applicants should show distinction in school performance, leadership, service, or character. Financial need may be a determining factor when selecting recipients.

Application Process

The application process is coordinated through the BOCES 2 WEMOCO principal’s office, where application instructions are available.

Committee/Selection Process

The selection process is coordinated through BOCES 2 WEMOCO. A selection committee comprised of board members, staff, and faculty reviews applications, selects the recipient, and informs the Community Foundation.

Award Announcement and Payment

The Community Foundation emails a certificate to the high school for presentation to the recipient and emails an award notification with instructions for claiming the award to the recipient in the Spring. Payment is mailed to the school for the recipient’s account in one lump sum in the Fall and split between the Fall and Spring semesters once required documentation is received.

To release the scholarship payment, upload the requested and required information including your class schedule and tuition bill verifying enrollment to the Community Foundation’s online Scholarship Portal.

Scholarships not claimed by February 15 in the assigned year will be forfeited. Email scholarships@racf.org with any questions or concerns.

Renewability

This scholarship is a one-time award and is not renewable.


Donor Information

This scholarship was established in 1979 to honor Victor Salitan. Victor served for 30 years as a school district attorney for several school districts and specifically for the Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES.
