Thomas G. Welch Memorial Scholarship

Purpose of Scholarship

To provide financial assistance to a graduating senior at Dansville High School pursuing a degree in engineering, information technology, or other technology field.

Application Period

November 1 to May 31

Number and Size of Awards

One award of $4,000; paid as $500 per semester for up to eight consecutive semesters of undergraduate study.

Allowed Use of Award

Awards may be used for tuition, fees, books, and other expenses associated with higher education.

Eligibility Criteria

For graduating seniors of Dansville High School who are:

• In good academic standing;
• Planning to attend an accredited two- or four- year college or university in the United States; and
• Pursuing a degree that will lead them to a career in engineering, information technology, or another technological field.

Application Process

The application process is coordinated by the Thomas G. Welch Scholarship Committee. Applications are available at the high school Counseling office. Interviews may be requested.

Committee/Selection Process

The selection process is coordinated by the Thomas G. Welch Scholarship Committee, which reviews applications, selects the recipient(s), and informs the Community Foundation of its decision.

Award Announcement and Payment

The Community Foundation emails an award notification with instructions for claiming the award to the recipient in the Spring. Payment is mailed to the school for the recipient’s account in two equal installments for the Fall and Spring semesters once required documentation is received.

To release the initial Fall semester payment, upload the requested and required information including your class schedule and tuition bill verifying full-time enrollment.

To release the Spring semester, upload the requested and required information including your un/official transcript verifying continued full-time enrollment and a minimum 3.0 GPA to the Community Foundation’s online Scholarship Portal between December 1 and February 15

To release the subsequent Fall and Spring semester payments, upload the requested and required information including your unofficial transcript, class schedule, tuition bill to verify continued enrollment to the Community Foundation’s online Scholarship Portal between July 1 and August 15 for the Fall semester and between December 1 and February 15 for the Spring semester.

Scholarships not claimed in the assigned semester will be forfeited. Email scholarships@racf.org with any questions or concerns.

Renewability

This scholarship is renewable up to three times for a total of four awards in four consecutive years Please see the Award Announcement and Payment section above for more information.
