St. Julian and Adrienne Simpkins Book Award
Purpose of Scholarship
To provide book awards to students pursuing higher education.
December 1 to March 1
Number and Size of Awards
Up to five awards of $500 each; paid in one lump sum in the Fall semester.
Allowed Use of Award
Awards may be used for college textbook expenses.
For graduating seniors who:
- Reside in one of the eight counties surrounding Rochester (Genesee, Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Orleans, Seneca, Wayne, and Yates counties);
- Have an average 3.0 GPA (or better) on a 4.0 scale; and
- Have financial need.
The application process is coordinated through the Community Foundation, and this scholarship is grouped with other scholarships in our Consolidated Scholarship Application. This means that by completing this one application, you will automatically be considered for any and all other scholarships connected to the Consolidated Application.

The selection process is coordinated through the Community Foundation. A committee comprised of Community Foundation staff and community representatives reviews applications and selects recipient(s).
Award Announcement and Payment
The Community Foundation emails an award notification with instructions for claiming the award to the recipient. The book award can be claimed to use in either the Fall semester (between July 1 and August 15) or Spring semester (between December 1 and February 15). Book awards are released and mailed to the recipient once required documentation is received.
To release the book award, send a class schedule or un/official transcript verifying enrollment to the Community Foundation.
NOTE: Award recipients are responsible for completing the St. Julian and Adrienne Simpkins Expense Report Form detailing the purchases made using the scholarship funds. This completed form is due to the Community Foundation no later than February 15. Awards not claimed by February 15 in the assigned year will be forfeited.
This scholarship is a one-time award and is not renewable.
This scholarship was established to provide scholarships to students to assist them with the costs of college textbooks.
