Randy Freeland Memorial Softball Scholarship
Purpose of Scholarship
To provide financial assistance for college costs to a softball athlete graduating from Palmyra-Macedon High School.

Number and Size of Awards
One award of $1,000; paid as $250 per semester for up to four consecutive semesters of undergraduate study.
Allowed Use of Award
Awards may be used for tuition, fees, books, and other expenses associated with higher education.
For a graduating softball athlete from Palmyra-Macedon High School who:
- Has participated and excelled in the high school softball program for a minimum of two years;
- Will be enrolled full-time at a two- or four-year college; and
- Has financial need.
Special consideration is given to students who do not receive other awards.
The application process is coordinated by the Palmyra-Macedon High School Counseling Office, where application instructions are available if applicable.
The selection process is coordinated through the Palmyra-Macedon High School. A committee comprised of Palmyra Macedon's Director of Athletics and four citizens of the greater Rochester area reviews applications, selects the recipient, and informs the Community Foundation.
Award Announcement and Payment
The Community Foundation emails a certificate to the high school for presentation to the recipient and emails an award notification with instructions for claiming the award to the recipient. Payment is mailed to the school in equal installments for four consecutive Fall and Spring semesters to be applied to the recipient's account once documentation is received.
To release the initial Fall semester payment, send a class schedule or un/official transcript between July 1 and August 15 to the Community Foundation verifying full-time enrollment in a two- or four-year college or university.
To release the Spring semester payment, send an un/official transcript or the Randy Freeland Memorial Scholarship Renewal Form between December 1 and February 15 to the Community Foundation verifying continued enrollment and a minimum 2.5 GPA.
To release subsequent payments, follow the Spring semester instructions and the dates for the specific semester the award is being claimed. Scholarships not claimed in the assigned semester will be forfeited.
This scholarship is renewable up to three times for a total of four awards in four consecutive semesters. Please see the Award Announcement and Payment section above for more information.
This scholarship memorializes Randy Freeland, an outstanding baseball player who graduated from Palmyra-Macedon High School in 1982.
