Monroe Tractor Scholarship

Purpose of Scholarship

To provide annual college scholarships to students interested in studying agriculture or agricultural management. ***Not accepting new applications; renewals only. Applications may be accepted again in 2023.***

Application Period

November 1 to February 15

Number and Size of Awards

One award of $4,000; paid as $1,000 per year for up to four consecutive years of undergraduate study. Additionally, one Book Award of $500. Book Award paid in one lump sum in the Fall semester and renewable awards paid in the Spring semester. ***Accepting applications in January 2023. ***

Allowed Use of Award

Awards may be used for tuition, fees, books, and other expenses associated with higher education.

Eligibility Criteria

For graduating high school seniors and college undergraduate students who are:

  • Pursuing a career in an agriculture-related field, and
  • From public or private schools in western Monroe, Genesee, Niagara, Orleans, Wyoming or Livingston counties.

Application Process

The application process is coordinated through the Monroe Tractor Scholarship Committee. To apply for the scholarship, interested students should send an essay to the Monroe Tractor Scholarship Committee, c/o Ms. Cindy Linderman, 7941 Oak Orchard Road, Batavia, NY 14020. The essay should include information about the student’s background, future goals, the courses they will be taking, and the college they will attend. It should include an explanation of why the student has chosen the field of agriculture and what he/she expects to contribute to it. ***New applications accepted in 2023.***

Committee/Selection Process

The selection process is coordinated through the Monroe Tractor Scholarship Committee. The committee, comprised of two Monroe Tractor representatives and at least four business or farm representatives, reviews applications, selects the recipient(s), and informs the Community Foundation.

Once Ms. Linderman receives the required paperwork from the book award and scholarship recipient(s), she notifies the Community Foundation using the Scholarship Fax form.

Award Announcement and Payment

The Community Foundation emails an award notification with instructions for claiming the award to the recipient in the Spring.

For Scholarship Awards: Checks are made payable to the recipient and mailed to his/her permanent address by the Community Foundation at the end of the first, third, fifth and seventh semester of college after confirmation from Monroe Tractor that the company has received an official transcript verifying the recipient has maintained at least a 2.0 GPA and is enrolled in the coming semester.

For Book Awards: Checks are made payable to the recipient and mailed to his/her permanent home address after confirmation from Monroe Tractor to the Community Foundation that the company has received the recipient’s book supply expenses.

Scholarships not claimed by February 15 in the assigned year will be forfeited. Email scholarships@racf.org with any questions or concerns.

Renewability

This scholarship is renewable up to three times for a total of four awards in four consecutive years. Please see the Award Announcement and Payment section above for more information. Note: Book awards are one-time awards and are not renewable.

Other

Dropping out or changing curriculums will result in automatic loss of the scholarship.
