Marion F. Hersey Scholarship

Purpose of Scholarship

To provide financial assistance to a current, full-time, sophomore or junior female student at St. John Fisher College continuing her education.

Application Period

November 1 to February 28

Number and Size of Awards

Two awards of $1,000 each; paid in one lump sum.

Allowed Use of Award

Awards may be used for educational expenses at St. John Fisher College.

Eligibility Criteria

For a full-time sophomore or junior female student attending St. John Fisher College who has financial need (as determined by the college).

Application Process

The application process is coordinated through the Financial Aid Office at St. John Fisher College, where application instructions are available for eligible students.

Committee/Selection Process

The selection process is coordinated through St. John Fisher College. A committee at the college reviews applications, selects the recipient(s), and informs the Community Foundation.

Award Announcement and Payment

The Community Foundation emails an award notification with instructions for claiming the award to the recipient in April. Payment is mailed to the school for the recipient's account.

Renewability

This scholarship is not renewable; however, students may reapply each year they are eligible.


Donor Information

This scholarship was established by John E. Swett in memory of his great-grandmother who made it possible for his mother to be the first member of her family to attend college 280 years after the family's first ancestor left England and landed in Bare Cove (now Hingham, Massachusetts).
