Katie Harper Memorial Scholarship

Purpose of Scholarship

To provide scholarship assistance to a female Fairport High School senior who exemplifies the qualities that reflected Katie and her personality: kindness toward others, enthusiasm for life, and a commitment to making the world a better place.

Application Period

November 1 to February 1

Number and Size of Awards

One award of $2,500; paid in one lump sum in the Fall and divided equally between the Fall and Spring semesters.

Allowed Use of Award

Awards may be used for tuition, fees, books, and other expenses associated with higher education.

Eligibility Criteria

For a female student graduating from Fairport High School who:

• Is in the top 50 percent of the class, based on GPA;
• Demonstrates excellence in a sports team or music program;
• Shows commitment to others through volunteering or collaboration within a group; and
• Is active in fostering school or team spirit.

Application Process

The application process is coordinated by the Fairport High School Counseling Office, where application instructions are available if applicable.

Committee/Selection Process

The selection process is coordinated through the Fairport-Perinton Dollars for Scholars program. A committee of Dollars for Scholars board members reviews applications, selects the recipient, and informs the Community Foundation.

Award Announcement and Payment

The Community Foundation emails a certificate to the high school for presentation to the recipient and emails an award notification with instructions for claiming the award to the recipient in the Spring. Payment is mailed to the school for the recipient’s account in one lump sum in the Fall and split between the Fall and Spring semesters once required documentation is received.

To release the scholarship payment, upload the requested and required information including your class schedule and tuition bill verifying enrollment to the Community Foundation’s online Scholarship Acceptance and Renewal Form between July 1 and August 15.

Scholarships not claimed by February 15 in the assigned year will be forfeited. Email scholarships@racf.org with any questions or concerns.

Renewability

This scholarship is a one-time award and is not renewable.
