KajjecK Scholarship

Purpose of Scholarship

To provide financial assistance to Rochester City School District students pursuing a college degree. ***Offered in even years.***

Application Period

December 1 to March 1

Number and Size of Awards

One award of $4,000; paid as $1,000 per year for up to four consecutive years of undergraduate study. Award paid in the Fall semester. ***Offered in even years.***

Allowed Use of Award

Awards may be used for tuition, fees, books, and other expenses associated with higher education.

Eligibility Criteria

For a Rochester City School District graduating senior who:

  • Has at least a "B" average;
  • Demonstrates financial need; and
  • Plans to attend a four-year college.

Application Process

The application process is coordinated through the Community Foundation, and this scholarship is grouped with other scholarships in our Consolidated Scholarship Application. This means that by completing this one application, you will automatically be considered for any and all other scholarships connected to the Consolidated Application.

Committee/Selection Process

The selection process is coordinated through the Community Foundation. A committee comprised of Community Foundation staff and community representatives reviews applications and selects the recipient.

Award Announcement and Payment

The Community Foundation emails an award notification with instructions for claiming the award to the recipient. The scholarship is payable once per academic year and can be applied to either the Fall semester (between July 1 and August 15) or Spring semester (between December 1 and February 15). Payment is mailed to the school for the recipient's account once required documentation is received.

To release the initial scholarship payment, send a class schedule or un/official transcript to the Community Foundation verifying enrollment in a four-year college or university specializing in business administration or finance. To release subsequent scholarship payments, send an un/official transcript or the KajjecK Scholarship Renewal Form to the Community Foundation verifying continued enrollment in a four-year college or university and a minimum 3.0 GPA. Scholarships not claimed by February 15 in the assigned year will be forfeited.

Renewability

This scholarship is renewable up to three times for a total of four awards in four consecutive years. Please see the Award Announcement and Payment section above for more information.

Donor Information

This scholarship was created in 2002 by a couple who met at Kodak and decided to help deserving Rochester high school students with college tuition.
