Greece Community Partners Scholarship

Purpose of Scholarship

To recognize and provide financial support to graduating high school students who are residents of Greece.

Application Period

November 1 to March 4

Number and Size of Awards

One award of $1,000; paid in one lump sum in the Fall and divided equally between the Fall and Spring semesters.

Allowed Use of Award

Awards may be used for tuition, fees, books, and other expenses associated with higher education.

Eligibility Criteria

For graduating high school seniors who:

  • Are residents of the Town of Greece;
  • Are students in the following high schools/school districts: Arcadia, Athena, Odyssey, or Olympia in Greece, Hilton High School, Spencerport High School, Allendale Columbia, Aquinas Institute of Rochester, Bishop Kearney, McQuaid Jesuit, Our Lady of Mercy, Northstar Christian Academy, or Villa of Hope;
  • Have a current minimum average of 80 percent (B or 3.2 GPA); and
  • Have demonstrated continual and significant improvements in their GPA from 9th through 12th grade OR have had a single notable increase in GPA from one year to the next (such as recovery from an observable dip in GPA due to a difficult academic year or individual circumstances).

Preference is given to those who participate in school and/or community service projects.

Committee/Selection Process

The selection process is coordinated through the Community Foundation. A committee comprised of Community Foundation, community, and family representatives reviews applications and selects recipient(s).

Award Announcement and Payment

The Community Foundation emails an award notification with instructions for claiming the award to the recipient in April. Payment is mailed to the school for the recipient’s account in one lump sum in the Fall and split between the Fall and Spring semesters once required documentation is received.

To release the scholarship payment, upload the requested and required information including your class schedule and tuition bill verifying enrollment to the Community Foundation’s online Consolidated Scholarship Application between July 1 and August 15.

Scholarships not claimed by February 15 in the assigned year will be forfeited. Email scholarships@racf.org with any questions or concerns.

Renewability

This scholarship is a one-time award and is not renewable.
