Erin Marie Masling Scholastic Award

Purpose of Scholarship

This scholarship provides support to students participating in Cameron Community Ministries planning to attend Our Lady of Mercy High School or McQuaid Jesuit High School.

Application Period

August 1 to October 1

Number and Size of Awards

Number of recipients and award amounts vary. Award paid in three equal installments over the school year: September, December, and March.

Allowed Use of Award

Awards may be used for tuition, fees, books, and other expenses associated with private school.

Eligibility Criteria

For students participating in Cameron Community Ministries who:

  • Are planning to attend Our Lady of Mercy High School or McQuaid Jesuit High School;
  • Are in good academic standing; and
  • Have financial need.

Application Process

The application process is coordinated through Cameron Community Ministries where the application is also available.

Committee/Selection Process

The selection process is coordinated through the Community Foundation. A committee with representatives from the Community Foundation, Cameron Community Ministries, and family reviews applications and selects the recipient(s).

Award Announcement and Payment

The Community Foundation mails a letter to the recipient explaining the award in the Fall. Payment is mailed to Cameron Community Ministries who works with the school to apply funding to the recipient's account.

Renewability

This scholarship is not renewable; however, students may reapply each year they are eligible.

Donor Information

Erin's father and family created this scholarship in her memory to recognize her determination to lead as normal a life as possible despite the challenges of living with cystic fibrosis. It gives other students like Erin the opportunity to enrich their lives through education by helping to alleviate some of the financial burdens of attending college. Erin attended Ithaca College and spent a semester in London. She was smart and a good student and accomplished much in her brief lifetime.
