Purpose of Scholarship

The Erin Marie Masling Faculty Award is a financial award given annually to a student who, like Erin, has faced and overcome significant challenges. The recipient is selected by faculty, staff, and administrators of the Roy H. Park School of Communications at Ithaca College.

Number and Size of Awards

One award of $250; paid in one lump sum in the Spring.

Allowed Use of Award

Awards may be used for educational expenses or other purposes.

Eligibility Criteria

For a student who:

  • Is enrolled in the Communication Management and Design degree program at the Roy H. Park School of Communications at Ithaca College, and
  • Has faced and overcome significant challenges while demonstrating a steadfast commitment to learning.

Application Process

The application process is coordinated by Roy H. Park School of Communications at Ithaca College, where application instructions are available.

Committee/Selection Process

The selection process is coordinated through Ithaca College's Park School. A committee comprised of faculty, staff, and administrators reviews applications, selects the recipient, and informs the Community Foundation.

Award Announcement and Payment

The Community Foundation emails a certificate to the college for presentation to the recipient and emails an award notification with instructions for claiming the award to the recipient in the Spring. Checks are made payable to the recipient and mailed to the recipient’s permanent home address by the Community Foundation.

Renewability

This scholarship is a one-time award and is not renewable.


Donor Information

Erin's father and family created the Erin Marie Masling Scholarship Fund in her memory to recognize her determination to lead as normal a life as possible despite the challenges of living with cystic fibrosis. Erin attended Ithaca College and spent a semester in London. She was smart and a good student and accomplished much in her brief lifetime. The scholarship gives other students like Erin the opportunity to enrich their lives through education and to alleviate some of the financial burdens of attending college.
