Purpose of Scholarship
The Elvira Caroselli Creative Spirit Award will provide small awards to encourage the creative spirit and endeavors of junior and senior high school students.Application Period
December 1 to February 28
Number and Size of Awards
Number of recipients and award amounts vary; paid in one lump sum in the Fall. Maximum award $1,500.
Allowed Use of Award
Award may be used for broad artistic purposes. This scholarship is not intended to support costs associated with higher education.
Eligibility Criteria
For high school juniors and seniors in Monroe County or at Oneonta High School (Otsego County) who have:- The courage to fight for an idea;
- A creative spirit;
- An interest in artistic expression (sewing, visual arts, woodworking, baking/cooking, poetry, dance, music, etc.);
- A C+ average (2.5 GPA) or better in school; and
- Financial need.

The selection process is coordinated through the Community Foundation. A committee comprised of Community Foundation staff, community members, and family representatives reviews applications and selects the recipient(s).Award Announcement and Payment
The Community Foundation mails a letter to the recipient explaining the award in the Spring. Checks are made payable to the recipient and mailed to the recipient’s permanent home address by the Community Foundation.Renewability
This scholarship is a one-time award and is not renewable.Donor Information
Mrs. Caroselli loved creating, designing, and experimenting. This remarkable woman dropped out of school in the eighth grade to help support her family.
