E. R. Parker Scholarship

Purpose of Scholarship

To provide financial assistance to graduating seniors from Palmyra-Macedon High School who are pursuing a college degree.

Application Period

Contact school counselor beginning in March to learn more about this scholarship opportunity

Number and Size of Awards

One award of $4,000 each to both a male and a female student; paid in one lump sum in the Spring semester.

Allowed Use of Award

Awards may be used for tuition, fees, books, and other expenses associated with higher education.

Eligibility Criteria

For graduating seniors from Palmyra-Macedon High School who:

  • Have a cumulative average of 85 percent or higher;
  • Are going on to college;
  • Display qualities of good citizenship; and
  • Have financial need.

Application Process

The application process is coordinated by the Palmyra-Macedon High School Counseling Office, where application instructions are available if applicable.

Committee/Selection Process

The selection process is coordinated through Palmyra-Macedon High School. The Palmyra-Macedon Chapter of Dollars for Scholars reviews applications, selects the recipients, and informs the Community Foundation.

Award Announcement and Payment

The Community Foundation emails a certificate to the high school for presentation to the recipient and emails an award notification with instructions for claiming the award to the recipient in the Spring. Payment is mailed to the school for the recipient’s account once required documentation is received after completion of the Fall semester.

To release the Spring semester scholarship payment, submit class schedule, tuition bill and transcript verifying full-time enrollment and a 2.0 minimum GPA to the Community Foundation’s online Scholarship Portal between December 1 and February 15.

Scholarships not claimed by February 15 in the assigned year will be forfeited. Email scholarships@racf.org with any questions or concerns.

Renewability

This scholarship is a one-time award and is not renewable.


Donor Information

This scholarship was established in 1993 through the will of E. Reeves Parker, a resident of Palmyra and a store owner who, during his lifetime, helped many Palmyra-Macedon graduates continue their education.
