Purpose of Scholarship

To provide book awards to students pursuing higher education.

Application Period

December 1 to February 28

Number and Size of Awards

Up to five awards of $500 each; paid in one lump sum in the Fall semester.

Allowed Use of Award

Awards may be used for college textbook expenses.

Eligibility Criteria

For graduating seniors who:

• Reside in one of the eight counties surrounding Rochester (Genesee, Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Orleans, Seneca, Wayne, and Yates counties);
• Have an average 3.0 GPA (or better) on a 4.0 scale; and
• Have financial need.

Committee/Selection Process

The selection process is coordinated through the Community Foundation. A committee comprised of Community Foundation staff and community representatives reviews applications and selects recipient(s).

Award Announcement and Payment

The Community Foundation emails an award notification with instructions for claiming the award to the recipient in the Spring. Book awards are released and mailed to the recipient once required enrollment documentation is received in the Scholarship Portal.

To release the book award, upload the requested and required information including your class schedule and tuition bill verifying enrollment to the Community Foundation’s online Scholarship Portal between July 1 and August 15.

NOTE: Award recipients are responsible for completing an expense report form in the Scholarship Portal detailing the purchases made using the scholarship funds. This must be completed no later than February 15.

Scholarships not claimed by October 15 in the assigned academic year will be forfeited. Email scholarships@racf.org with any questions or concerns.

Renewability

This scholarship is a one-time award and is not renewable.
