Philanthropic Planning Administrator Zakiya Tripp is a catalyst for positive change within the Rochester community and beyond. Whether you have questions about Rochester Area Community Foundation’s services and funds, or you seek guidance on philanthropic endeavors, Zakiya is here to offer her expertise and support. She is the first point of contact at our office when you or a client wish to create a new fund or document intentions for a planned gift. She is the person aligning your needs and timeline with the member of our team best able to help you accomplish your goals.

Born and raised in Rochester, New York, Zakiya uses her expertise in philanthropic planning to foster positive relationships with members of the community. In her new role, Zakiya will support the philanthropic engagement department that empowers individuals and organizations to make a lasting impact in our community.

Zakiya’s journey towards community empowerment is underpinned by her educational background. Armed with a master’s degree in public administration, specializing in health care management, and a certificate in nonprofit management, her unique blend of skills is well suited to the complex world of community development. Her bachelor of science in healthcare administration as well as women and gender studies from SUNY Brockport’s Honors College further enriches her understanding of societal dynamics and healthcare systems.

As testament to her academic prowess, Zakiya is a member of several national honor societies, including Alpha Chi, Phi Theta Kappa, Tau Sigma, and Triota. Zakiya continually seeks opportunities to put her knowledge to work beyond the classroom. She volunteers as mentor to students in the Rochester City School District and at the Rochester Education Opportunity Center, where she encourages them to pursue higher education and find careers that ignite passion within themselves.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Zakiya is an avid traveler with a deep appreciation for diverse cultures. Having ventured to more than twenty countries, she treasures the experiences gained from immersing herself in various ways of life. These global adventures fuel her passion for understanding and addressing the needs of marginalized communities, both locally and internationally.

While navigating her busy schedule, Zakiya finds enjoyment in the companionship of her feline friend Mr. Dinosaur. Dinosaur serves as a constant reminder of the importance of nurturing relationships, whether with furry companions or fellow humans.

In her role at Rochester Area Community Foundation, Zakiya exemplifies the spirit of philanthropy, advocating for inclusivity that uplifts our community. Her dedication, coupled with her profound understanding of community dynamics, continues to pave the way for positive change, inspiring others to join her in building a brighter, more equitable future for all.
