Online Platform Connects Clients with Vetted Nonprofit Proposals

The Community Foundation has launched the Grant Catalog, an online resource highlighting a cross-section of nonprofit proposals currently under consideration for funding. Updated nearly every month, the Catalog offers a unique window into the needs emerging across our region and the organizations responding to them.

We hold 542 donor-advised funds that are actively supporting charitable causes close to home and across the country. The Community Foundation, with our 40 trained and experienced staff, has one job: to understand and meet the evolving needs of our eight-county region.
Through the grantmaking process, our staff evaluates hundreds of proposals each year across areas like Summer Learning, Arts & Culture, Historic Preservation, Rural Investments, and Health, Wellness & Aging. We also review applications for our four affinity-based Giving Circles, which focus on the Latino community, Black-led initiatives, the LGBT+ community, and financial empowerment for women and girls.
The proposals on the Grant Catalog have already crossed three hurdles.
- First, they align with the Community Foundation’s strategic grantmaking areas. That means that a gift of support isn’t a drop in the ocean, it’s a concentrated investment in one of the areas supported by our own grantmaking.
- Second, the proposal has been vetted by our grantmaking staff with specific subject matter expertise. Clients can trust that the applicant is not just in good standing, but has articulated a plan that positions them to drive real results.
- Third, the need is timely. Each time a donor responds to the Grant Catalog with their own resources, the Community Foundation can say yes to more strong proposals from the nonprofits serving this community.
Anyone can explore the Catalog and contribute. Donor-advised fundholders at the Community Foundation receive regular updates and invitations to participate as new funding opportunities become available.
