Purpose of Scholarship

To provide scholarships to graduating Mount Morris Central School District seniors.

Allowed Use of Award

Awards may be used for tuition, fees, books, and other expenses associated with higher education.

Eligibility Criteria

For a graduating senior of Mount Morris Central School District who has demonstrated:

  • Interest in initially attending a two-year community college (including circumstances where the student intends to transfer at the end of two years to a four-year school to complete his/her education);
  • Sound academic credentials, but preferably a student who has not received other significant recognition for academic performance (e.g., the valedictorian or salutatorian);
  • Good character, including a good sense of humor, perseverance, and the demonstrated willingness to make use of the school's resources to develop his/her abilities, character, and educational/professional interests; and
  • Financial need.

Application Process

The application process is coordinated by the Mount Morris Central School District, where application instructions are available if applicable.

Committee/Selection Process

The selection process is coordinated through the Mount Morris Central School District. Applications are reviewed by a committee that includes the president (or another representative) of the Mount Morris Central School District Board of Education; the district superintendent or another representative of the governing Board of Cooperative Educational Services; the Mount Morris Central School District's high school principal and a teacher; and a community member of the town of Mount Morris. The committee selects the recipient(s) and informs the Community Foundation.

Award Announcement and Payment

Beginning in Spring 2022: Mt. Morris High School will announce winners of the scholarship and coordinate scholarship payments. Please contact your school counselor for more details.

For earlier scholarship recipients: Payment is mailed to the school in equal installments for four consecutive Fall and Spring semesters to be applied to the recipient's account once documentation is received.

To release the subsequent Fall and Spring semester payments, upload the requested and required information including your unofficial transcript, class schedule, tuition bill, and the Oblak/Farrell Scholarship Renewal Form verifying continued enrollment and a minimum 2.5 GPA to the Community Foundation’s online Scholarship Acceptance and Renewal Form between July 1 and August 15 for the Fall semester and between December 1 and February 15 for the Spring semester.

Scholarships not claimed in the assigned semester will be forfeited. Email scholarships@racf.org with any questions or concerns.

Renewability

This scholarship is renewable up to three times for a total of four awards in four consecutive years. Please see the Award Announcement and Payment section above for more information.
