St. Julian and Adrienne Simpkins Book Award

Purpose of Scholarship

To provide book awards to students pursuing higher education.

Application Period

November 1 to March 4

Number and Size of Awards

Up to five awards of $500 each; paid in one lump sum in the Fall semester.

Allowed Use of Award

Awards may be used for college textbook expenses.

Eligibility Criteria

For graduating seniors who:

  • Reside in one of the eight counties surrounding Rochester (Genesee, Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Orleans, Seneca, Wayne, and Yates counties);
  • Have an average 3.0 GPA (or better) on a 4.0 scale; and
  • Have financial need.

Committee/Selection Process

The selection process is coordinated through the Community Foundation. A committee comprised of Community Foundation staff and community representatives reviews applications and selects recipient(s).

Award Announcement and Payment

The Community Foundation emails an award notification with instructions for claiming the award to the recipient in April. The book award can be claimed to use in either the Fall semester (between July 1 and August 15) or Spring semester (between December 1 and February 15). Book awards are released and mailed to the recipient once required documentation is received.

To release the book award, upload the requested and required information including your class schedule and tuition bill verifying enrollment to the Community Foundation’s online Consolidated Scholarship Application between July 1 and August 15.

NOTE: Award recipients are responsible for completing the St. Julian and Adrienne Simpkins Expense Report Form detailing the purchases made using the scholarship funds. Upload this completed form no later than February 15. Awards not claimed by February 15 in the assigned year will be forfeited. Email scholarships@racf.org with any questions or concerns.

Renewability

This scholarship is a one-time award and is not renewable.
