Community Crisis Fund Grants

In response to the local impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, United Way of Greater Rochester and Rochester Area Community Foundation activated the Community Crisis Fund to raise flexible resources to support organizations in our region working with communities disproportionately impacted by coronavirus and the economic consequences of this outbreak. Click here to donate.

Phase 2 funding begins August 3. The goal of this new phase will be to support nonprofit organizations experiencing severe financial hardship because of costs associated with reopening or maintaining safe operations with a focus on equity. Priority status will be given to grant requests from organizations led by people of color as well as those with staff and board leadership reflecting the communities they serve, and those that can demonstrate at least 75 percent of the recipients fall within the priority populations (Black, Latinx, refugees, migrants, rural communities, people with physical and/or cognitive disabilities, and older adults).

To apply for a Phase 2 grant: Log into the grant portal Asana, or at bit.ly/CrisisFunding2 to get additional details on this funding. Applications will need to be submitted by the rolling monthly deadlines on the third Friday of every month (August 21, September 18, October 26, etc.) until the Crisis Fund is depleted.

Phase 1 funding was distributed from March through July 31. It focused on the economic impact of the COVID-19 outbreak and immediate needs of economically vulnerable populations caused by pandemic-related closures (food, shelter, clothing, childcare, hygiene products, cleaning supplies, etc.). Phase 1 funding is still available during Phase 2, with applications accepted on a rolling basis through the Asana portal.
