The Community Foundation - Rochester Area The Community Foundation

Support Funds for Specific Causes

Funds at the Community Foundation provide support for a number of interests that are dear to the hearts of many donors; namely, Arts & Culture, Civic Engagement, Early Childhood, Education, Environment, Health, Historical Preservation, Successful Aging, Youth and Families, Women and Girls, and specific counties.

Arts & Culture
The arts are integral to the overall vitality of our region; they not only create a better quality of life, but also a healthier economy.
   Civic Engagement
Connecting people of diverse backgrounds and encouraging their involvement in civic life is necessary in a democracy.
   Early Childhood
For more than 20 years, the Community Foundation has invested in high-quality early education opportunities for young children. With proven results, we're staying the course and continuing to make sure that our region's children get the best start possible.

Education
Helping students achieve is one of the best ways to guarantee their — and our — future. In addition to the following funds, the Community Foundation also administers many scholarship funds.
   Environment
Upstate New York is an environmental treasure. The following funds help keep it that way.
  Health
These funds support specific and general health concerns in our area.

Historical Preservation
Preserving the past and learning its lessons provide a sound foundation for the future.
  NextGen Rochester
A giving circle has been created for young professionals by young professionals.
  Rochester Women's Giving Circle
Another giving circle created by a community of philanthropic women who combine their financial resources to support area women and girls on their journey to economic independence.

Successful Aging
These funds support the needs of older men and women; for example, by providing home support, day programs, recreation, or transportation; by encouraging volunteerism; and by helping families.
  Youth and Families
Many funds at the Community Foundation support the needs of children and families. A current grant focus is to increase and improve after-school opportunities for vulnerable children and their families.
  Women & Girls
Programs specifically targeted to women and/or girls are supported through these funds.

Specific Counties
A number of funds are targeted to specific geographic areas outside Monroe County.
